Plastic Systems is an Italian manufacturer of auxiliary equipment for plastics processing, founded in 1994 and part of the Pegaso Industries group. The company designs and builds systems for the storage, conveying, drying and dosing of granules, flakes and powders — in other words, everything between the silo and the hopper of the injection molding machine.

Why Plastic Systems equipment

Material preparation is where most of the scrap blamed on the machine actually originates. Moisture in hygroscopic granulate causes hydrolysis, bubbles and streaks; imprecise masterbatch dosing produces colour differences between batches; poor conveying introduces dust and contamination.

What dew point do PET and other hygroscopic materials need?

Hygroscopic materials such as PET, PA and PC need dry air with a dew point typically between −40 °C and −60 °C. The twin-tower dryers in the D and DR series work in exactly that range; we cover moisture-related faults in Dryer dew point too high.

When do you need gravimetric rather than volumetric dosing?

A volumetric dosing unit meters by volume and is sufficient with stable granulate and looser tolerances on additive content. A gravimetric dosing unit meters by weight and holds the set percentage regardless of bulk density, so it is essential with expensive masterbatch, regrind of varying density, and parts with a specified additive content.

Can the equipment be retrofitted into an existing line?
